Enid and Rebecca are two 18-year old girls who has recently graduated high school.
Enid is a very strange character in a way that is hard to describe. She´s cynical and bitter and she criticizing almost everyone the meets.
Rebecca, seems to be more normal than Enid. She has a more mainstream personality and enjoy things that most teenager enjoys to do.
I think Enid and Rebecca becomes friends in the first place because they both are a little bit strange, like outsiders. In the beginning of the movie you can see that they are very best friends and they seems to have a good friendship. But through the film you can see that Enid is actually mean to, not just to Rebecca, but almost everybody around her. She´s also very immature and doesn´t have any future plans, while Rebecca starts to build up an adult life after high school with a job, apartmant etc. In the end of the movie you can see that she has change from a high school student to someone that actually can take care of her self. She´s starting to grow up, wich you cannot say about Enid. Thats way i think their friendship ends.
2. Seymour says, “It’s simple for everyone else- give ‘em a Big Mac and a pair of Nikes, and they’re happy. I can’t relate to 99% of humanity” Is Seymour right, or is he overly cynical? Have you ever felt the way he does?
I think he´s right in some way. Sometimes you can feel that everybody is just so stupid and doesn´t get anything. Some teenagers today just wants expensive things like the newest iphone and designer clothes and then they think life will be alright. But then I think many people realize that you need moore than things in life. You have to think of who you are and what you will do the rest of your life. In the way Seymour sees it I think he is a little over cynical because he is very bitter and doesn´t enjoy anything in life. Of course you should enjoy that nice new bag you bought and things like that but a think that everyone also need to think about what is really the important things in life?
6. Is Ghost world a comedy? How is this film different from comedies that you are accustomed to viewing?
I didn´t see this film as a directly comedy. Its not a comedy that I'm use to see, you know the ''i-lough-so-much-i-fall-of-the-chair'' comedy. But when I think about it afterwards, sure it was some scenes that I laught, but I also think that its i movie where you need to think, really think whats happening and it isn´t that obviously funny but if you really get the story I think it can be a funny story in some way. But I self doesnt think it was that hilarious.
